It's been two decades since stoners everywhere have been vaping away on the iconic Volcano from Storz & Bickel. Sure, a weed vape isn't for everyone, but the brilliant folks behind this classic have done it again with the Mighty+ - a handheld conduction heated dry herb vaporizer like no other. But is it the best weed vape of all time? Let's find out.
The Mighty+ fits perfectly in your pocket and looks like a wallet or large smartphone made to withstand more than a few bumps and bruises. As far as conduction vapes go, the Mighty+ precise temperature control is amazing. It features a bright little screen that displays the exact temperature of the vaporization chamber, the target temperature, and how much battery life you have left. It's also charged by USB C cable so when you do need to recharge, it's super quick.
How good is convection heating!
It was a breeze using the device, although I took a minute to figure out how to open it. To unlock it, you have to unscrew the top, and there's a little filling chamber to insert the ground bud in it - it's like a bowl in a pipe. After that, screw the top back and press the power button. Use the arrows to choose your temperature, and you're all set. It will beep to let you know it's ready, and then you can start creating those big clouds. Compared to other methods like bongs and pipes, this one is way more efficient with a small amount of bud. Conduction heated weed vapes are where it's at - one bowl got me between 5 and 15 great hits in five minutes and the vapor quality was amazing.
Generally speaking (to bring out the hypocrite in me), I'm not a fan of vaping buds. For me, rollies are the way to go, day or night. But this little induction weed vape pleasantly surprised me. It almost recreated the same flavour as the pricey Volcano Hybrid - I think particular hits tasted even better. But, in the end, it doesn't really matter. The flavour was excellent, and the hits were super smooth. Other vaporizers like the original Firefly and the G Pen don't compare to what has been produced by the team at Storz & Bickel. The vapor quality that is produced by the Mighty+ mini convection oven is only second to that of its desktop big brother - the Volcano Hybrid.
I'm fond of the Mighty+ as it's so straightforward and effortless. I don't even have to expend too much brainpower on it, which isn't usually my jam, but it's essential when I'm out and about. I loathe toting around my dab rig, lighter, carb cap, and cotton swabs wherever I go, so I usually end up going out unmedicated, which is never a desirable outcome. But with this, all you need is the device itself and your herbs. Portable vaporizers utilising conduction heating means no burning smells in public but it also means your dry herb is being respected so much better. I consider it roasting versus burning the chicken. I find oily vape pens produce a slightly stronger aroma which isn't really what I'm after in public spaces.
The only issue I have with it is that considering its size, I expected it to have a better battery life, especially with its $550 price tag. For sure, it'll last through the day, but if you're using it a lot, you'll drain the battery in no time. Of course, that's subjective, and for most average smokers, it'll probably last a few days without needing to be recharged, but to all the experienced stoners out there, know that you should keep a charger close if you plan to be lit for a while. I also can't fit it in my pockets, but that's not something I usually take into account since stuffing a lighter and a knife in my pocket feels wrong - this might be a dealbreaker for some people, so I figured it was worth mentioning.
That's really all I have to say about it, and even that's a stretch because I haven't found any other dry herb vapes that come close to the Mighty+ battery life. Generally, I'm not a big fan of vaping buds because the flavour is a bummer. However, I still can't get over how good bud tasted the same as low-grade stuff with any of the other mods I tried.
I sampled a high-grade fifty and a lower-grade fifty in the Mighty+, and both tasted great, yet the better bud was notably superior. I'm pleased with that result because, as a purchaser, I expect to get what I pay for, and that's been my everyday experience with Storz & Bickel gear.
This device is a dream come true because it's so stealthy. Honestly, the Mighty+ is the best thing since sliced bread! I took it out on my skateboarding/dog running expedition, and I could medicate in plain sight of the boys in blue. None of them had any clue that I was smoking because the vapor disappeared instantly. It almost seemed like I was sipping from a water bottle. You have to love this device for getting you buzzed without anyone noticing, even though that was probably not the original intention of Storz & Bickel when they made the Mighty+. Still, it is a handy tool to keep close.
Weed Vaporizers - Yeah or Nah?
When it comes to the cost, this device is totally worth the $550. I have yet to come across a more effective portable vaporizer, and most are around the same price. So if you're looking for a way to enjoy dry herb vaporization on the go, and you're way too impatient to order online, I'd suggest you get check out the Mighty+ at your nearest vape store (tell 'em we sent you).
If you're looking for a budget weed vape or want to check out our hybrid weed vape you can do so check out our full collection of portable vaporizers. An honourable mention should go to the original Mighty Storz Bickel vaporizer which has slightly slower charging and a shorter battery life.
