Keeping a small glass bong clean is crucial for maintaining its optimal performance and lifespan. Follow these instructions to ensure a comprehensive and efficient cleaning procedure:
1. Gather Supplies
Prior to starting, ensure you have all the essential cleaning supplies on hand. You will require isopropyl alcohol (ideally 91% or above), coarse salt (like Epsom or kosher salt), pipe cleaners or cleaning brushes, and warm water.
2. Empty Water & Disassemble
To begin, make sure to empty the water chamber and take apart any additional parts, like the downstem and bowl. This will not only prevent any potential spills but also simplify the cleaning process.
3. Rinse The Bong
To get started, flush out any loose particles or buildup from the bong by rinsing it with warm water. This initial step is crucial in preparing the bong for a thorough cleaning.
4. Create Cleaning Solution
Combine isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt in a separate vessel. The alcohol aids in dissolving and sanitising the residue, while the salt serves as an abrasive agent to eliminate tough buildup.
5. Apply Cleaning Solution
To effectively clean a small glass bong, begin by pouring the cleaning solution or a liquid bong cleaner such as Formula 420 into the water chamber. Ensure that the solution thoroughly covers all the areas that require cleaning.
6. Shake & Swirl
To achieve this, carefully cover the openings of the bong to guarantee a tight seal, and proceed to vigorously shake the bong. By adding salt, you can effectively utilise its properties as a natural scrubbing agent, enabling it to dislodge the residue that may have accumulated on the glass walls.
7. Clean Bong Parts
While the water pipe is submerged, ensure to thoroughly cleanse the downstem, bowl, and any other components that can be detached. Take advantage of pipe cleaners or cleaning brushes to eliminate any buildup or residue.
8. Rinse & Repeat
After agitating and twirling the bong for several minutes, eliminate the cleansing solution and thoroughly rinse the bong with lukewarm water. Repeat this procedure until the water flows transparently and there are no lingering traces of alcohol scent.
9. Dry & Reassemble
Once the bong is rinsed, carefully dry all the parts using a clean towel or paper towels. Make sure all the pieces are completely dry before reassembling the bong.
